Sorry folks but the Duchess of Cambridge ISN'T the most beautiful woman in the world
A new survey has found that almost 60% of Brits think that Kate Middleton is the most beautiful woman in the world - both inside and out. Periwinkle Jones doesn't agree…
A survey carried out by pollsters Opinion Matters found that a whopping 60% of British people think that HRH Kate Middleton 'possesses true beauty, both inside and out'.
Kate Middleton was voted more beautiful - insides and all - than Olympic athlete Jessica Ennis, Michelle Obama and Beyonce:
1. Kate Middleton
2. Jessica Ennis
3. Michelle Obama
4. Fearne Cotton
5. Emma Watson
7. Charlize Theron
8. Kristen Stewart
Surveys like this make me weep for humanity. For a start, judging by the list of runners-up, I can only hope that the list was multiple choice. Even so - why would the researchers put such an eclectic mix as Beyonce and Fearne Cotton as choices?
"Kate Middleton is far from being the 'most beautiful woman in the world', inside, outside or upside down."
Secondly: Kate Middleton is far from being the 'most beautiful woman in the world', inside, outside or upside down.
Yes, she is very attractive, but so are a score of other beauties. Her beauty is the 'safe', neutral sort of beauty that's fitting to the future Queen of England. Demure rather than sexy. A little bit dull.
In fact, if I was to sum up her personality, I'd go for dull and dutiful over beautiful. Yes, she partakes in a lot of charity work, but she has nothing else to do apart from her Royal Duties (unless you count sunning herself on balconies). It's not like she does it out of choice.
In contrast, Kate's late mother-in-law Princess Diana went out of her way to help charities, saying she considered herself a 'Government Worker' ahead of a princess, while her husband's aunt Princess Anne quietly patrons over 200 charities and organisations.
Kate is young and still fairly new in her role, so she may yet prove to be an extremely dutiful and charitable woman. But the point is this: surveys of this nature underplay the stars who truly are beautiful both inside and out. For instance, Jami Getz - the 1980s actress of Lost Boys and Sixteen Candles fame topped the Forbes 2012 list of most generous celebrities after donating $10,569,002 to charity. Model Gisele Bundchen donated $1,500,000 of her personal fortune to help the Haiti Relief fund and even Lady Gaga was recently commended by DoSomething.org for her support of gay rights and her work towards the eradication of AIDS and poverty through the formation of the Born This Way Foundation.
"Her beauty is the 'safe', neutral sort of beauty that's fitting to the future Queen of England. Demure rather than sexy. A little bit dull."
Kate Middleton seems like a very nice girl, but she'll have to earn her title as a princess before I'll consider her the fairest of them all.
