1. Treat your skin with a beauty elixir
If you want the just-done-a-load-of-exercise glow effortlessly, make-up artist and now brand owner Sue Devitt suggests using a beauty elixir. The sunshine may inject a feel-good factor into our day but it can also dehydrate your skin and flying to a destination abroad can also make your skin feel extremely dry and taut.
Sue Devitt says: "I'm often travelling and don't always find time for my full skin care regime. However, my elixir (Sue Devitt Microquatic Marine Crystal Collagen Elixir from the Sue Devitt Microquatic range) is always in my bag, not only does it keep my skin moisturized all day long it also rebuilds the collagen structure of the skin."
Alternatives worth considering include Caudalíe Beauty Elixir, which one user on ciao.co.uk described as "A travel essential from France," and Neal's Yard Wild Rose Elixir - a luxurious treatment packed full of antioxidants to help repair, firm and smooth your skin.

2. Apply a primer
After the journey into work on a stifling hot tube or car journey, a rush to get to your nine o'clock meeting and a few cups of coffee later, you're less fresh-as-a-daisy and more bedraggled after the make-up you have spent time putting on in the morning has melted. Sound familiar?
Well, prevent this schoolgirl error by using a primer before applying your foundation, tinted moisturiser or BB cream. A primer will, according to Devitt, "create a smooth canvas for make-up application and help bind make-up to the skin for longer wear." Pricey but well worth the investment, Laura Mercier Foundation Primer contains vitamins A, C and E plus a cooling agent so it nourishes, protects and will calm your skin on a hot day before your apply your base colour. Mac Prep + Prime is another good all-rounder as it really does leave your skin looking flawless. One user on ciao.co.uk says it is: "Really effective and a great base before you apply your foundation".
As part of their Miracle Matt range, Boots have also recently launched a primer for oily skin called 17 Miracle Matte Skin Primer, which the No17 make-up artist Vanesa Guallar says: "is the solution to a stay perfect look and shine-free control for up to 22 hours."

3. Glow this summer
Why not go for gold this summer? Achieve a dewy look with this top tip from Sue Devitt: "To get ready for summer and to look like I've just gotten back from the beach I like to add a little oil-free, water-based liquid bronzer like Microquatic Tinted Body Moisturizer to my foundation or moisturizer. This gives the skin a natural glow, and is also a great base for a natural look."
We also love Transformulas Ageless Hydration Gold cream. Jam-packed full of anti-ageing ingredients - including 23 carat gold particles and hyralauronic acid, which locks in moisture - this gorgeous product leaves your skin looking luminous and blends perfectly with whatever base you choose to use.
Talking of foundations and bases, it's worth swapping your usual cover-up for a BB cream. If you're after a dewy finish with decent coverage, check out Garnier BB Cream. One user on ciao.co.uk says: "It gives the skin a gorgeous illuminating glow which hydrates and provides SPF".
Finally, Jane Iredale's Dry Sunscreen is formulated with titanium dioxide and pure clay, which is naturally rich in minerals and provides protection from UV rays. Not only is this a fantastic addition to your suncare regime, you'll also be left with a golden glow.

Be bold this summer with your peepers and opt for strong colours on your lids or a smoky eye and flick. Whatever you choose, give your eyes a whole new dimension.
Inspired by Latin America, one of the strongest looks from Bourjois has been created by teaming a vivid blue called 'Bleu carnard' round pot with a spicy orange called 'Orange epice'. Simply apply the orange all over your eyelid, wet the applicator and use the Bleu carnard as a liner, and hey presto, you've got a colourful new look.
Alternatively try Clinique's Lid Smoothies - these creamy eyeshadows are crease-resistant and packed full of antioxidants to shield the eye area. Available in a range of shades, the cooling applicator also helps when applying the formula, which lasts up to eight hours.
As well as working a flick into your make-up routine using - a liquid eyeliner, such as Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen - make sure you wear lashings of waterproof mascara, such as Christian Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara (see our piece on waterproof make-up for more tips). The no-mascara look may have been prevalent on the catwalk but it's a tricky one to pull off in reality.
Glasto may not be on this year but there are still plenty of festivals up and down the country - for example, the Secret Garden Party and the Vintage Festival. A colourful chubby eye colour pencil such as No7 Summer of Dreams eye pencils or Rimmel Soft Kohl pencils could come in handy as you can use them either on the eyes or to draw flowers on your face.

If you're after a fresh and sheer look this summer, try a lip-boosting treat such as Bourjois Effet 3D lipgloss. Available in a range of shades, you can pump up the volume by applying a little more product at the centre of the lips. You don't really need to go too full as this summer it's all about a more natural sheer colour. Think corals and pretty pinks to get the look. Lanolips has a fantastic range of vitamin E-enriched lip ointments, including this fruity deep pink shade called Rhubarb. They are perfect for the summer as they contain SPF15 for added protection from the sun.
Spring/summer 2012 was all about bringing out your features via contours so choose either a bronzer or darker shade of foundation to help emphasise your cheekbones. Sue Devitt says: "To perfect the sun-kissed glow, apply bronzing powder to the face, paying special attention to the apples of the cheeks, chin and forehead". Try Soap & Glory Solar-powder bronzer, which is a mix of highlighter and blusher for a subtle glow.
No7's make-up artist Lisa Eldridge says: "To create the perfect summer flush, swirl a large brush into the bronzer and blend on the back of your hand before applying to cheeks, temples, the bridge of your nose and decolletage. Everywhere the sun hits!"
If you're more of an English rose, then you're in luck as a healthy flush is another trend seen on the catwalk. A quick and easy way to get the look is to try Rimmel's Mono blush in coral rose - a purse-friendly blush that gives a good natural colour.
