Sunday Girl: a month of parties
This month has been one of non-stop events and song writing for me. I have been in the studio in Paris with Martin Solveig and running around the seaside town of Hastings getting inspired.
At the end of June I went to the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party, co-hosted by Burberry in Hyde Park. I am in love with Burberry to say the least, so I was so excited to be going. I wore a black Burberry dress with billowing arms. It was understated but cool, along with the best-looking (but impossible to walk in) Burberry wedges.
It was like a very posh festival with beautiful swings and white Hydrangeas decorating the gardens and a stage for the performances, One Night Only played and Alexa Chung DJ'ed. I saw lots of African/tribal prints and girls in white flowing dresses with black boots to toughen up the look.
At the end of last month was the launch of the Gucci Fiat 500! Yes, a Fiat complete with leather Gucci embossed seats, it's like a handbag on wheels. I DJ'ed for the event and did lots of people watching. I saw lots of girls wearing white on white and colour blocking is still very much in. I wore Gucci for the event - a simple A-line black dress with studded detail around the neckline.
Over the last month Armani has held a summer party each week getting different record labels to show off their acts. Last week was Polydor's turn and I did an acoustic set along with Natalia Kills and the beautiful Pierces. We all got the pick of the Armani Store and I went for the 70's Mum look! I'm really into 70's styling at the moment so went for cream oversized pencil trousers pulled in at the waist, a dark cream silk shirt and white blazer. I finished the look with black patent pointy shoes, a belt and not to forget big hair! The Pierces worked a 70's hippie vibe too, with paisley prints and long floaty skirts.
Dolce and Gabbana held a party at the Net-A-Porter offices in Westfield where I was asked to sing for a 'secret' performance. For the party I wore a fitted short dress with a star and leopard print and big red Aldo shoes (pictured). For my performance I wore an amazing star-printed jumpsuit with a huge 70's style collar, I loved it. I met Mr Dolce and Mr Gabbana which was really exciting! It was a pretty fabulous party with guests such as Queen Latifa, Naomi Campell, Pixie lott and Bip Ling attending.
Sunday was the Veuve Cliquot Gold Cup Polo event at Cowdray Park. Lily Allen, Leigh Lazark, Kevin Spacey and Mr Hudson all braved the rain. I went along with my friend Alex (my professional +1) and presenter Zara Martin. I borrowed a lovely bit of Chanel! I wore a white dress with a classic white cardigan jacket with nude Aldo shoes all teamed with a Mulberry bag. The men looked all fabulous, I have never seen so many brightly coloured chinos and stripy blazers in my life. We all drank far too much champagne and ogled at the beautiful polo boys. It was a great day.
Lastly, on 7th August, I will be having my very own Sunday Girl tent at Apple Cart Festival in Victoria Park, London. Please pop down to stitch, bitch and drink tea with me MSN readers!
Hope to see you there!
