Many store are now accepting that there are bigger ladies out there who want to look nice. But they only have their plus ranges online because they don't want "fat" people in their shops, but they are happy to take the money off them- next do this.
New look do a good plus range, but when I recently asked in their Oxford Road store where the Inspire range was I was tols that they don't carry it in that store- It's their flagship shop!!!
I agree with the comment about the lingerie, many men like veluptuous ladies and they want them to wear sexy, even nice underwear, but the lingerie market doesn't recognise this. And unless you want to spens £60 an a bra and £30 on panties to match you are out of luck. Asda started doing larger lingerie but have now stopped- strange as they had identifed a huge gap in the market.
And as to the health issues- yes I am overweight, but I model and have a huge fan base. I recently had a full health check and I don't have diabeties, or thyroid problems, or cholesterol issues, my liver and kidneys are perfect- much to the disgust of the practice nurse who wanted to find loads wrong with me so she could say it was all due to my weight!
Skinny people tend to be the ones who smoke more.
Wake up clothes sellers- we are a market and we have money to spend!
Big is not best for health. It may be attractive to some but it's not good at the end of the day.
I've been a size 18-20 before and I'd never wish it on anyone and would never make clothes to make women feel ok to stay that size or bigger.
It's time to get healthy girls!! Not for attractiveness, not for men, but for your own health and self confidence.
Obesity kills whether or not you like to hear it.
I have two kids and want to be healthy for as long as possible. 3 times a week doing swimming was my answer and now I'm a size 14 heading for a 12. I know it's hard as I actually have a 'food addiction' but it can be won. This battle was as hard as me giving up smoking so I know how it feels.
Make the effort girls, it is Soooo worth it, and so are you!
Don't let any media crap or fashion trends say it's good to stay fat. It's NOT!
I agree with Lisa Hunnybun's comment too. Sizes have been changed radically by the industry. I have a skirt from my mum, she bought it in the 70's from M&S and it's a size 16. It's too small for me and I'm now a modern size 12-14. So really you girls who are now a size 16 are actually more like size 20's!! Shocking.
Sorry if this truth hurts but it usually doesn't feel good to be told point blank what you don't want to hear!
Let the backlash commence . . . . .
I am just wondering why these women are called plus size! half of them are very slim and look very healthy but because they are not twigs, they're plus size!
I love a bit of self contradiction in an article... how can you state that a size 16 is average for the uk, then say its a plus size? I dont see hoards of size 16 ladies only shopping in plus size shops.
I am a 14-16 and have never struggled to find clothes that size in any high street fashion store, some designer shops yes, but not a high street shop. Most shops go to at least a 16 if not a 20/22 before they have a separate plus size range and the ranges are the same in all of these sizes (except the plus size where they have styles specifically designed for bigger ladies).
Wonder where you got your info from?!
Although these women are beautifull, im overweight and i honestly hate it , i have lack of self confidence ,i honestly cant wear half the clothes i have in my wardrobe as my lumps and bumps always tend to show. Im picky about what clothes to buy and its just a hassle!.I dont want to be stick skinny hell no! i just want to be a healthy weight. So i agree with Louise encouraging women to stay big isent really a positive thing , not for confidence or for health.
now lets get serious here a size 16 is not a plus size you can get that size in most shops,
i would say a size 20 upwards is a plus size and we need far more outfitters to come up with something good , evans really doesnt do it for me. and it might help ifdress shops whatever the size you are start modelling their sizes truthfully and not scrimp and scrape on the materiel , lets have a truthfull size 16 and not a tiny child size 16.
i don't considered woman's clothes "plus-size" until they're size 20+.
it's worse for models. i think it's if you're a size 10, you're a plus-size!
size should be changed.

I am a plus size person and for me I have to say yep it is tricky, but for bra sizes I say thank goodness for Bravissimo and a lovely little shop in Minehead. I had stopped to get out of the rain and ended up buying a new bra from one of the ranges that they sold and became hooked Fantasie Belle
bra in which I am a size 38hh. In fact I have most of the colours that they had in the range.
