A favourite for autumn/winter, leather is set to be a hot trend for next spring too.

For a fresh take on tough luxe, think beyond black and opt for clean lines and neat shapes with laser-cut detailing and contrasting fabric on trims, collars and cuffs.

Team with soft or sheer materials and this season's leather separates will take you right through to the next season.

Traditionally a cold-weather staple, leather is set to be a hot trend for spring, with white, nude and tan hues featuring in many S/S 2013 collections, including Salvatore Ferragamo, Donna Karan, DKNY and Alexander Wang.

'Opt for buttery-soft leather pieces in tan and caramel hues that you can wear from winter into spring,' says Clare Watson, personal stylist and owner of www.miss-dress.com.

This tan leather dress from Kaliko, £150, and camel-coloured jacket from House of Fraser, £395, will take you through the seasons.
