Kate hires Lady Gaga's hat maker

If rumours are to be believed it looks as if the Duchess of Cambridge is set to make a big fashion statement at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

After being crowned Hat Person Of The Year 2011 Kate may be stepping it up a gear in her choice of headwear.

She is said to have commissioned risqué milliner Piers Atkinson to create her something rather special when she joins the royal family to Leicester for the Diamond Jubilee tour launch.

Known for his quirky creations, Norfolk-born Piers likes to create outrageous headwear as sported by the likes of Lady Gaga, Madonna and Paloma Faith. His collections have featured a Barbie doll riding a banana and a beret studded with gold plated 'tiger claws'.

It's certainly a bold move for style icon Kate who usually opts for the classic look of a Philip Treacy hat but we look forward to seeing what crazy creation Atkinson will create for her.
