Women love to add a few inches to their height and heels are the perfect way to do this, but it seems as women want add even more inches to their legs, shoe designers are adding even more inches to the soles of their creations - making for some vertiginous heels that women are finding it hard to stand up in (let alone walk in).
The trend for the exaggerated platform first moved into the mainstream five years ago, and has been gaining pace (and inches) ever since.

It was centuries before Japanese and Chinese women were freed from the brutality of foot binding to give them small dainty (an deformed) feet which crippled them. Now we have the dumb broads of the west, in their desperation to become slaves of fashion are wearing the most ridiculous footware which if not designed specifically to break ankles or necks, will almost certainly cause them damage in later life. Yesterdays women were so intelligent and fought to find their place in the society, why are today's women so utterly self-absorbed and just plain stupid?

My neighbour can no longer walk without being on tip toes as prolonged use of high heels has ruined her muscle and tendon structure, yes the shoes look great but at what cost.

It's just a case of moderation in myview. I personally would never wear shoes like these, I can't stand up in them never mind walk! But that's just me and if other women can and want to that's up to them. I think it's stupid to wear them all the time and end up with muscle damage just to appear fashionable but if you wear them for the occasional night out and wear sensible shoes the rest of the time where's the harm? Apart from maybe falling off them if you drink too much!

What's the point? All you get, according to my other half, is a damaged back due to the posture the muscles are forced into, damaged ankles, damaged toes, damaged feet and joints, plus bunnions (look those up!). So apart from wanting to be in fashion why would any woman want to wear shoes that were the trend for Roman Call Girls?

How daft are these folk. They were bad for your feet/legs back in the 70's, and looked just as stupid then. People nowadays just want to make noise and look outrages. They have no style,but think they have. Dont they realise people are laughing at them,and thinking they could do with some help or put to sleep.

I wore them in the 1970's, and ok, I couldn't wear flat shoes for a couple of years afterwards due to my calf muscles going into spasm, lol, but they were so comfy. I hated it when I went back to thin soled shoes, as I could feel stones etc under the balls of my feet rather than the comfy deep sole. Youth goes too quickly - I wear sensible shoes to work and out in the evening now I am in my 50s!

Ralphie, I wore the platforms in the 70's and we wobbled for the sake of fashion! Let's be honest here, girls will wear them because they look good. Trust me they won't be worn 24/7 and most will be worn on a night out, and if I remember correctly they probably won't be worn again till the next party, date ect.
I just wish I'd kept my platforms from Biba, could have sold them on ebay!

We have been here before...I remember even men wore platform shoes in the 70's with flared trousers.
I'm surprised these young ladies don't realise the damage they are doing to their feet for the sake of fashion. What's worse is that chiropodists or other qualified clinicians do not warn about this. It will be the NHS that will pick up the bill in a few year's time when deformed feet bring pains and aches prematurely.
If nature had intended us to walk on platforms it would have given us thicker soles...
I still remember Noemi Campbell falling off her shoes...
If this was the USA law suits would be filed against these manufacturers and those who sell them.

Why is this the 'new' trend? Celebs, females in general have been wearing ridiculously high heels for decades it never went out of fashion... look at the image of a femme fatale what do you always see them wearing?
Okay I'd be a hypocrite if I said these were the evil of the earth as I myself (even being the biggest tomboy ever) have a rather fetching pair. However, I don't wear them so often that any lasting damage can be done and only wear them for special occasions for short periods of time. Because yes they do give you an amazing silhouette but the pain to achieve it is not worth worth it all the time.
So like all other beauty and fashion product it's fine; in moderation.

Wearing them with Black Opaque Tights ..wears the Tights out..all the stress on the toe area rips them..even 120 denier Tights.dont last long
