Hedi Slimane renames Yves Saint LaurentThe Parisian fashion house is changing its name in time for designer Hedi Slimane's first...

Hedi Slimane's anticipated reign over Yves Saint Laurent will not just bring new designs to the fashion house but also a new name.

The designer, who took over from Stefano Pilati as the fashion house's new creative director in March this year, is making the label his own by altering the title of the prestigious fashion house from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris.

With strong attachments to the name in the fashion industry, the changes could cause controversy, especially following the death of its 71 year-old founder in 2008.

But we either like it or lump as the name is here to stay and will be introduced in the next few months for Hedi's debut catwalk collection.

However, to save confusion the famous YSL logo will remain on the brand's array of products - from shoes to lipsticks.

Slimane has been given total creative responsibility of the brand image and all its collections, planning to lead Saint Laurent Paris into a new era with a more youthful and modern aesthetic.

So what will his spring/summer 2013 collection have in store? Expect minimalist, masculine tailoring and a refreshing new twist on the tuxedo. With baited breath we will wait...
