The Duchess of Cambridge has proved time and time again that scarlet is her colour, (remember that diamond jubilee Alexander McQueen ensemble?), so we're pleased she picked this eye-catching colour for her first look as she touched down in Wellington, New Zealand, for the start of the royal tour.

The young family looked smart and elegant as they descended the steps of their private plane, despite a few gusts of wind threatening to play havoc with Kate's skirt and hair.

And watch out world, because we think that Kate may just have started a whole new style craze, and it's called 'air stewardess chic'. Perhaps the long-haul flight inspired her?

Here's what you've been saying about this latest look on Twitter:

@bec_karr: "Kate Middleton completely channeled Jackie O in her outfit today. Loved the coat!"

@cupie_doll: "I've no beef with Kate Middleton but she does look a bit like one of the air hostesses stepping off that plane in the red suit."

@ToryBanknell: "Kate Middleton is the only person on the planet that could give Jackie O a run for her money. #pillboxhat"
