London Fashion Week show report: John Rocha

Lorna Weightman tells us what she thought of John Rocha's spring 2013 collection

I'm sure designers are always reluctant to say that "this season is the strongest one yet". But as of today, one designer can: John Rocha. Rocha seems to be re-defining his take on fashion and I am quite happy about that. As an avid follower of his designs, I think this is a move in the right direction for someone who has been a longstanding part of London Fashion Week.

In a departure from his traditional creations, usually borrowing from a dark palette, Rocha's Spring Summer 2013 was a welcome burst of colour. Models adorned in organza head pieces descended the catwalk in beautifully constructed pieces in hues of lemon, pink, red, white and his "go-to" black. As soon as the first model took to the catwalk in a red cotton silk dress with "petal" details, a loyal audience of press and buyers suddenly sat up. John Rocha was introducing us to his version of a rainbow.

Stand out pieces included a cropped leather jacket with a silk cotton skirt, white "tulip" shape 3/4 length top and cropped trousers and undoubtedly his final piece, a bright, almost neon pink dress, decorated with layers of cotton silk, a fabric which featured heavily throughout the collection.
