"After returning from holiday, skin often needs a little bit of extra TLC. The harsh effects of sun exposure may leave skin sensitive and dry, so make sure you counteract this with a thorough skin care routine," says celebrity beauty therapist Nichola Joss. "Here are my top tips on keeping that holiday glow going throughout the rest of the year."

1. Nichola's Top Tip

To enhance your post-holiday glow, my secret tip for the stars is to use a skin illuminator. I recommend using it down the centre of your legs to create that added shine and it also makes your legs look much longer! This will help keep the legs fully moisturised and make your tan really shine.

2. Exfoliate

It's important to exfoliate the skin, especially after a holiday. If your skin is sensitive, I suggest using a gentle exfoliant with small spherical granules for minimum irritation. If you find you're still experiencing some peeling, gently use a body brush on the affected area whilst the skin is dry. Then, wet the skin and gently massage any remaining troubled areas. This won't affect your holiday tan at all, it will make the tan appear more even and prevent further peeling.

3. Hair Removal Upkeep

Hair removal is a key part of any beauty regime and leaves us feeling confident and proud of our silky smooth pins. For long-term hair removal, I would suggest using the Braun Silk-épil 7 epilator. It leaves your legs smooth and hair free for up to four weeks. The more you use your epilator, the quicker and easier the epilating sessions will become giving you the best results. The high frequency massaging rollers actively stimulate the skin for an extra gentle epilation and it includes a cooling glove that soothes the skin. This is essential if your skin feels sensitive after exposure to the sun. The added bonus of using an epilator is that it doesn't remove any of your tan!

If you need a quick fix in between epilation, I suggest using the Venus Embrace razor as it has 5 blades positioned closely together for a closer shave, while the protective ribbon of moisture helps sooth the skin and leaves legs feeling irresistibly smooth. If your skin is a little sensitive after the increased sun exposure, I would recommend using the Venus ProSkin Sensitive blades, which are designed to achieve a close shave with less feel of irritation. Simply switch the heads of the razor to get the result you want! That's the beauty of Venus products: every Venus blade fits any Venus handle, so you can choose the right blade for you & you'll always get great skin.

4. Tanning Upkeep

Moisturising is key to maintain your tan. After any hair removal method, it's essential to keep the skin moisturised. The effects of the sun, sand and sea combination can really dry out the skin. I suggest using a light lotion or body oil for maximum moisture. If you have sunburn, it's best to use an after sun as a moisturiser alternative. I recommend using one that contains aloe vera or calamine as these both have soothing properties.
