Club Tropicana

Beauty's reaction to the credit crunch? If clothes are more pared down, make-up gets lighter and brighter. Lilac was one of 'the' hottest summer shades. Just choose your best feature - eyes or lips - and your colour, and go to town.
"From Cacharel to Gucci, splashes of lemon yellow, lime green, blistering orange and electric blue hit the S/S catwalks like an electric ray of sunshine," says Max Factor's Caroline Barnes.
Summer catwalk copycat: Revlon Tropical Temptation polish, £6.29 (0800 085 2716); MAC Lipstick in Lavender Whip, £11.26 (www.maccosmetics.com); Barry M Dazzle Dust in Parrot Green, £4.50 (www.barrym.com).
High Shine
As seen at: Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, Nathan Jenden
Stash away your mattifying stick, models stepped onto the runways with high-gloss faces as though they had been basking in a steamy hammam. Vaseline was even applied to models' faces to achieve that exotic-looking glistening finish.
"Imagine glowing, almost moon-lit skin, baby doll lashes and a hint of futuristic flush," says L'Oreal's James Kaliardos.
Spring catwalk copycat: Boots No7 Skin Illuminator, £10.30; L'Oreal Paris Glow Minerals, £13.99; Bobbi Brown Extra Tinted Moisturising Balm SPF25, £31.32 (www.bobbibrown.co.uk).
Smoky chic
As seen at: Ashish, Matthew Williamson, Paul Smith
Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse have a lot to answer for - grunge eyes are the perfect antidote to muss up a girly look with one quick smudge of a kohl pencil. But this new rock chic eye is more 'slept-in' than edgy.
"The look's a little bit DIY and smudged," explains MAC's Lucia Pieroni.
"It's how to add a little drama to your make-up in summer without looking too perfected."
Spring catwalk copycat: Clinique Brush-On Cream Liner in True Black, £11.74 (www.clinique.co.uk); Sisley Phyto Kohl Perfect Eyeliner with smudger, £22.50 (0207 591 6380); Jemma Kidd Pro Smudge Brush, £12 (www.spacenk.co.uk).
Bold lips
As seen at: Betty Jackson, Luella, Margaret Howell
If you think red should be reserved for winter, think again. Bold lips were spotted on many a model at the spring/summer shows, from hot cherry red to stand-out fuchsia.
"The bright and bold lip is the fastest route to effortless eye-catching glamour this spring/summer," says Pat McGrath for Max Factor.
"Choose gloss for 70s style sex appeal, matte to pack a modern punch or a satin finish for classic appeal."
Spring catwalk copycat: Max Factor Lipfinity Limited Edition Catwalk Colour in Essential Pink, £9.99; YSL Rouge Volupte in Extreme Coral, £20 (01444 255 700); Givenchy Pop Gloss in Hip Hop Red, £15.67 (01932 233 824).
Just peachy
As seen at: Chanel, Nicole Farhi, Anna Sui
Feeling pasty post-winter? Turn to pinky-peach blush for an instant flush of cherub-like colour. These healthy highlights sidestep WAG-style bronzer.
"Achieved a 'flushed from within' feel to the skin by applying a blush with shimmer directly over foundation and under powder," advises MAC's Tom Pecheux.
Spring catwalk copycat: MAC Powder Blush in Pinch O'Peach, £14.68 (www.maccosmetics.com); Bobbi Brown Apricot Shimmer Brick, £26.43 (www.bobbibrown.co.uk); Pure Blush in Peach, £7.83 (Boots).
